Experience The Bible In Community Together
The Bible is the living, breathing Word of God, given to us so that we might learn and grow closer to Jesus. If we are becoming disciple-makers, we must never forget Jesus is our True North. But, how do you know you're headed north if you don't know how to read the compass?
If Jesus is our true north, then the Bible is our compass. It guides us closer and closer in the direction we are trying to go.
Living life with Jesus is always better in community. Gathering together in Jesus’ name is another way we get to experience a relationship with Him. Acts 2 reminds us that the early church moved together toward Jesus through confessions and conversations of faith, prayer, service, generosity, and even sharing meals.
Reading and experiencing God's Word gave the members of the early church a sense of unity and purpose, but also brought light to the story God was writing in their own lives.
The story of the Bible is God’s creation constantly seeking a way back to Him after seeking good without God, alongside God's faithfulness to restore. The story of the early church is the same story we get to share: Jesus is the Good News, the one with whom we get to have eternal life. Because of the story written in the early church, we now get to experience it as the Word of God.
Community helps us stand firm on our convictions, , and we get to do that with the help of our compass, the Bible. It can be intimidating to understand the Bible; sometimes, we read it without its original context. But God is faithful to meet us as we read His Word, and He provides people to be with on the journey. Experiencing Scripture in community helps give perspective and insight, painting a different and beautiful picture of the story God is writing in you and among your people.
PRAY
Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for the opportunity to be curious, for we know there isn’t a question too big for You. May we find the places to experience Your Word in community, with friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, and so much more. Show us the names and faces of those in our lives who need to hear the Good News.
DIVE DEEPER
Discovery Bible Study is a great tool that can help you easily discover scripture. Take some time with yourself, or with those around you, and discover the word of God with these three simple questions:
What does this passage teach us about God, Jesus, or His plan?
What does this passage teach us about people and how we are to live?
How will you respond to/obey this passage in a tangible, perhaps even costly way in the next 48-72 hours?
