Is God Good Even When We Aren't

Have you ever felt so lost, so unworthy, that you question whether God will still be good to you?

These are the moments when your footing is so unsteady that you can't take a breath to see where you're going. When you feel so isolated that you can't recognize the community standing around you. When your emotions become so big that reality feels hard to grasp.

Is God still good even when you aren't?

Joshua 2 tells the story of Rahab, a Canaanite woman God used to save the Israelites and fulfill his plans. By Rahab's obedience and her faith in God, she participated in the salvation of the Israelites and the eventual birth of Jesus. God was good to her.

However, her story didn't always look so clear.

Rahab was a prostitute and was considered dishonorable in her community. She may have felt unsteady, isolated, or emotional, questioning her purpose and plan. Other people had counted her out. Surrounded by shame and darkness, Rahab was an unlikely participant in God's plan.

Despite what the world may have seen, God invited Rahab into something more. She had a choice to make: keep her eyes on the challenges ahead of her, or look up, trusting the big picture God was working, and join in.

Because of her faith in God, Rahab looked up, took the next right step, and allowed the transformation He was bringing about in and through her. God used her obedience to save His people and carry His good plan forward.

How can you follow her example of faith in the midst of struggle?

Look up.

Take the next right step.

Invite God's transformation in and through you.

Hebrews 11:31 celebrates Rahab for her faithfulness and participation in God's plan. Despite everything she experienced, Rahab was not defined by her past, but by her faith in God and the future that He had for her.

God is good, and He will be good to you. Watch this weekend's service for more.
