Jesus is King! His name holds all power and authority. In his name, you can find freedom, healing, and joy unlike anything the world can offer. When you have a relationship with the King, you can call on his name to experience the gifts of the Kingdom. Read Colossians 1:15-23 this week to learn about the character and authority of King Jesus.

  • Colossians 1:15-20 NLT: Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creationfor through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him.He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything.For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christand through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.

  • Colossians 1:21 NLT: This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions.

  • Acts of the Apostles 19:13-14 NLT: A group of Jews was traveling from town to town casting out evil spirits. They tried to use the name of the Lord Jesus in their incantation, saying, “I command you in the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, to come out!”Seven sons of Sceva, a leading priest, were doing this.

  • Acts of the Apostles 19:15-16 NLT: But one time when they tried it, the evil spirit replied, “I know Jesus, and I know Paul, but who are you?”Then the man with the evil spirit leaped on them, overpowered them, and attacked them with such violence that they fled from the house, naked and battered.

  • Have someone retell the story from your previous meeting.

+ Read and Retell the Bible Story

  • One person reads the story out loud to the group.
  • Someone else in the group retells the story in their own words as they remember it, and others fill in what’s missing.

  • Read the passage again (different version if possible)
  • What does this passage say about God, Jesus, or His plan?

  • Have 1-2 more people retell the story as if they were telling a neighbor outside their home.
  • What does this passage say about people in general?

  • What in me needs to change to better DO what God is showing me today?
  • How will you respond to/obey this passage in a tangible, perhaps even costly ways in the next 47 hours?
  • Have someone record these for prayer time, and for the beginning of the next meeting.
