Is Peace Possible?
Where do you go looking for peace?
The peace that the world offers is fragile. It is conditional. If you rely on conditions like health, political outcomes, or quietness at home to feel at peace, you won't find it for long. These things are unreliable—they will let you down. The world cannot deliver on its promise for peace.
So, you may find yourself asking: Is peace possible?
The Bible offers Shalom: a peace so deep and pure that it is the very presence of completeness. This peace means wholeness, wellness, and well-being. It is greater than just the absence of conflict; it's a peace that can exist in your heart even when life feels hard.
This peace only comes through Jesus.
Isaiah 9:7 says of Jesus, "His government and its peace will never end."
Jesus carries all the responsibility, power, and events of the world, bearing everything on His own shoulders. In doing this, He provides peace that is available to you... because you don't have to carry it all yourself.
The peace that Jesus promises is not contingent upon world events, family struggles, or daily frustrations. It allows you to be at peace even when the world around you is not.
Consider the words of the hymn "It is Well with My Soul":
When peace like a river attendeth my way
When sorrows like sea billows roll
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say
It is well, it is well with my soul.
With Jesus, you can experience peace that makes no sense. He is with you, and it is well.
