Good With God | Introduction

Welcome to the first week of the Good With God group study! The Discovery Bible Study (DBS) method used here is a simple set of questions to help you and a few others look at a passage of the Bible and hear from God. No matter your experience level with the Bible, working through these questions with others can help you discover, do, and share what God is telling you right now. Each week of study should take around 60-90 minutes total, although we know each group will vary slightly. Do whatever works best for you and your people! Download the study guide below to follow along!

This first week will look a little bit different. Before jumping into the Good with God focus, spend some time setting some goals and discussing some expectations together! There is so much potential and expectation that comes along with a community pursuing Jesus together. We know God is up to something when he brings people together, and we want to discover what that is with one another.

Below are a few helpful questions to answer as we look at the beginning of the church, the first group of Christians to ever come together! There is so much to learn from these early followers of Jesus. We will look together at a passage that showcases the earliest Christian church and ask some good questions to think about how our family, friend group, or community of any kind can look like these early followers of Jesus in all the best ways.

BEFORE READING, ASK THESE TWO QUESTIONS

1. What led you to this group of people you are doing this study with?

2. What are your hopes for this group of people?

NOW READ ACTS 2:42-47

3. What can our group not afford to miss from Acts 2?

4. What do we learn about people or how we are to live from this passage?

5. What was the end result of community in the early church found in this passage?

6. How might our group add to our number and invite others to discover Jesus with us?

  • What will we do now that will help us multiply this group in the future?

7. What will our group commit to together in response to what we’ve read? (frame it like “We will…”)

  • What will your part individually be? (frame it like “I will…”)

  • Who will you share with or who will you invite to study the Bible like this with you before we meet next?

DISCOVER WHAT GOD IS SAYING

This week we are learning about the story of Genesis 2:4-25. Gather with your people to listen deeply and ask meaningful questions to reveal what Jesus might be saying to you through this story!
