There's Power In The Name Of Jesus

In Acts 3, Peter and John encounter a man who’s been unable to walk since birth. Every day, he’s placed at the temple gate to beg. For over 40 years, people walked past him. But on this day, something different happens. Peter says, “I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!” And he does. Not just walking, but leaping and praising God.

What’s the difference between this day and the thousands before it? The name of Jesus. That name—spoken in faith—brought healing and transformation. Jesus means “The Lord saves.” He’s the chosen one sent by God to rescue, redeem, and restore. His name doesn’t just represent hope - it is hope, because of who He is and what He came to do.

Here are a few things to hang on to:

  • The name of Jesus carries real power.
It’s not just a spiritual catchphrase or something to say when life gets hard. The name of Jesus carries the full authority of heaven; power to heal, restore, and shift the atmosphere of your life. When you speak His name in faith, you’re calling on the presence of the living God.

  • Jesus sees what others miss.
The man sitting at the temple gate had been overlooked for years. But through Peter and John, Jesus stopped for him. He notices the forgotten, the hurting, and those who feel left behind. If you feel unseen, know this: Jesus stops for you, too.

  • Healing may not always come how or when you expect it.
The man expected money. What he got was far better - healing and wholeness. Sometimes, we pray for one thing, and God answers it in an unexpected way. But the presence of Jesus always brings hope, even when the outcome looks different than we imagined.

  • When Jesus moves, people take notice.
The healed man didn’t slip away quietly. He jumped, danced, and praised God in front of everyone, opening the door for Peter to point people to Jesus. When God works in your life, it’s not just for you - it can open hearts around you to see who He is.

  • Your story matters.
This man’s story of healing became a living testimony to God’s power. The same is true for you. No matter how broken your past feels, Jesus can redeem it and use it to bring hope to others. Your life is part of something bigger.
